CURATORIAL WORK

2021 cont.  Associate Curator, Centre for Contemporary Arts, Glasgow

2018-2019     Committee Member at Transmission Gallery, Glasgow

I was part of the committee at Transmission Gallery, an artist-run space in Glasgow, made up of artists and programmers:  Alberta Whittle, Adam Benmakhlouf, Katherine Liu, Myriam Mouflih and Thulani Rachia.

We lost our funding that year and released this statement in response and fought to get it reinstated with Creative Scotland.

Our curatorial focus ‘From isolation to empathy’ looked at programming that gestured towards reparatory justice and ways to make the space a ‘house of multiple occupancy’ that centred around community and mutual aid.

The programme created space for experiences of local communities of Black, Minority Ethnic and working-class backgrounds in Scotland and encouraged practices that were community-led. We expanded our local community engagement to explore practices of collective care within institutional structures.
